Greetings Friends and Family of John Izzard,
We were all so sad to lose him unexpectedly. John's final wishes were for a "Last Row" and a celebration of life after that. We have been working with Parthenia to make this event what John would have wanted. This will all take place this coming Saturday, 9/24/22.
There will be a Last Row followed by a gathering at Ringstetten to celebrate John's life and contributions to our sport.
To view the Final Row, come to Undine at 10:30 am. You need not RSVP here if you are only attending this event.
To attend the Reception at Castle Ringstetten at 12 pm, you MUST RSVP here (for accurate catering/ head count) as soon as possible and no later than Thursday at 12 pm.
Anyone who wishes to participate in the Last Row will need to meet at Girard Avenue Bridge at or before 10:15. You can be in any size boat. At 10:30 boats will proceed down stream and row slowly past the Undine dock. John's favorite color was blue, so feel free to wear a touch of blue for John. Per Parthenia's wishes the armada will be led by Maurice Scott and concluded with John Monahan. When the last boat has passed Undine, there will be a spreading of his ashes followed by a moment of silence in John's honor. This will be managed at the Undine dock. Anyone not rowing can simply go to Undine by 10:30 to watch the Last Row.
Following the Last Row, everyone is invited up to Ringstetten for a reception to honor John. Ringstetten is the Undine upriver clubhouse above Falls Bridge but on the other side of Kelly Drive. People will get a chance to share their thoughts and fond memories of John at Ringstetten as well as enjoy some food and beverages. If you just want to join us at Ringstetten, aim for 12:00.
Parking at Ringstetten is limited so we are asking that anyone who can carpool up to Ringstetten to please do so. It will be easy enough to catch a ride back to Boat House Row to get your car later.
John Izzard was a life long member of Undine and really enjoyed his time at our club and all the special people he got to know. Undine is a better club having had him as a member for so many years. If you want to donate to the club in John's honor, his family and the club would very much appreciate that.
